How to Get a Library Card

Eligibility


  • Residents living within the Hunterdon County Library service area are eligible for free Hunterdon County Library cards
  • Non-residents who own property or a business in the service area are eligible for free Hunterdon County Library cards
  • Non-Residents who teach at a school in the service area and non-resident County of Hunterdon employees are eligible for free library cards
  • Non-County Residents and residents of Milford Borough and Lambertville City may pay an annual fee to receive a Hunterdon County Library card

Come to the Library


  • Bring your filled out library card application with proof of residency to one of the libraries in the Hunterdon County Library service area: Headquarters, (Raritan Township), North County Branch (Clinton), South County Branch, (Ringoes), Bunnvale, Frenchtown, High Bridge, Holland-Alexandria, Readington, Three Bridges, Tewksbury or the Bookmobile (click here for library locations and hours)
  • Eligible non-residents should bring proof of owning property, a business, teaching at a school or a County of Hunterdon employee ID to receive a card
  • Children of any age may apply for a library card in their name
  • Patrons under the age of 17 years old must have a parent or guardian co-sign their library card application

Library Card Privileges and Responsibilities


  • Hunterdon County Library cards may be used at any branch or affiliated library listed above. These cards are also honored at the Flemington Free Public Library
  • You may use your library card to access databases subscribed to by the Hunterdon County Library available through our website
  • Registered borrowers agree to comply with the rules of the library and assume full responsibility for all materials borrowed in the cardholder's name
  • Cardholders shall make every effort to return materials on time, pay overdue fines when materials are returned late and pay replacement costs for materials not returned
